Areas of Research
CAW’s mission to protect the interests of national, homeland, and global security from asymmetric threats is accomplished through focused training and experimentation programs, in addition to tactical, operational, and strategic-level exercise and assessment programs.
These programs are a result of partnerships with organizations across a wide spectrum of jurisdictions, including Department of Defense; local, state, and federal government agencies; private sector and non-governmental organizations; academia; and international government agencies. CAW’s programs are conducted with the aim of deterring, defending against, and mitigating the effects of the full range of asymmetric threats to safety and security, from natural disasters to organized crime and terrorism.
In order to encompass the variable and inherently unpredictable nature of the asymmetric threat, CAW focuses its programs and research on the following areas:
  • Domestic Preparedness, Emergency Response, and Emergency Management
  • Port and Maritime Safety and Security
  • Military Readiness and Defense Support of Civil Authorities
  • International Assessment, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief
  • Technology Integration and Evaluation
With decades of expertise in field operations, emergency and consequence management, crisis and deliberate planning, systems acquisition, technical documentation, modeling and simulation, human and systems integration in both civilian and military operational environments, CAW is uniquely positioned to achieve success in improving capability against any threat to the safety and security of the United States and its strategic allies.
